Dillon Goodson

Dillon GoodsonHaving only just entered the Wilmington jazz scene in June of 2023, Dillon Goodson has become one of the most-requested jazz bassists in the Cape Fear region in the last several months. Dillon received his formal training in the studio of David Ruffels at WCSU School of Visual & Performing Arts where he began playing the double (upright) bass. During his baccalaureate studies he worked as a jazz bassist primarily around his home state of CT and eventually in NY with countless musicians, most-notably Nicole Zuraitis, Darren Litzie, Jerrod Cattey, Jon Blanck, and Nick Biello. After graduating in 2008 with a B.A. in Jazz Studies he began working as a Pre-K through 8th music and performance arts educator. While teaching, he pursued a second undergraduate degree and received his B.S. English Secondary Education from WCSU. He moved to Wilmington in 2017 for a business opportunity and in June of 2023 he discovered the Wilmington jazz community through local students hosting open jam sessions. In recent months Dillon’s work in the community has expanded to occasional contributions to UNCW’s guest artist Masterclasses, Jazz Education advocacy through the Cape Fear Jazz Society, and performances with notable regional artists Randy Johnston, Benny Hill, Jay Killman, Jon Hill, and Carlos Garcia.
