Bruce Harris

Bruce HarrisBRUCE HARRIS is a trumpet player, performer and composer based in New York City. A graduate of the Purchase College Jazz Studies Program with both a bachelor’s and master’s degree, he has enjoyed a musical career touring all over the world as a sideman and as leader of his own bands. Bruce Harris’ affinity for music began as a child listening to his grandfather play the alto saxophone. After seeing Spike Lee’s Mo Better Blues, his intrigue with the trumpet grew and his relationship with his instrument has been star-crossed since. He has performed with a range of notable performers in various genres including jazz greats Wynton Marsalis, Tony Bennett, Marcus Strickland, Dave Brubeck, and Jon Baptiste, and pop artists such as Lady Gaga, Rhianna, Babyface, Toni Braxton, DJ Premiere, Harry Connick Jr, and Jay Rock to name a few. Bruce has performed in two Broadway shows – After Midnight and Shuffle Along. He leads his quartet in many jazz venues around NYC and is an active member in the Winard Harper Sextet and Kendrick Oliver’s New Life Jazz Orchestra. His eclectic tastes are evident in the variety of bands he performs with, including Latin and Blues styled groups.
