NCJF Artist For 2017 – Barton Hatcher

Clipboard01North Carolina artist, Barton Hatcher, has generously donated a piece of his artwork for the 37th Annual NCJF’s benefit raffle. This partnership of different styles of art to further our presentation of “the art of JAZZ” is very much appreciated!

Mr. Hatcher’s painting exemplifies the richness, fluidity, and unusual tonal effects that we associate with the music that we call jazz.

Clipboard02Growing up on his grandfather’s farm in Bladen County, North Carolina, Barton discovered his special artistic and creative gifts early in his life. His artwork, entitled “Kind of Blue”, was painted for our jazz festival as he was listening to the music of jazz trumpeter Miles Davis. This will be the object of our fund raising raffle, which has become an exciting part of the festival. The donation of a piece of visual art to help fund our showcase of the art of jazz, is very much appreciated. A wonderful partnership of the arts! A self-taught artist and mixed media sculptor, his eclectic style is admired by many. His work has been showcased in several North Carolina galleries, and he has been commissioned to do customized art designs for clients to fit their individual taste and desires, with his artwork in many private collections.

Barton owns and operates Gardens by Barton, a landscape design business in Wilmington, where he uses his talents to create customized garden designs, including building hardscapes such as arbors, trellises and garden sheds.
