Rossano Sportiello, a native of Vivegano, Italy, graduated from the Italian conservatory and began his musical career at the age of eighteen by joining the Milan Jazz Gang, one of Europe’s historic bands.
Rossano is an accomplished stride pianist, but also pays homage to the swing and bee-bop eras. He performs throughout Europe, where highlighted concerts include the 2006 International Stride Piano summit, as well as the Ascona Jazz festival in Switzerland, the Narn Festival in Scotland and the “Swinging Jazz Party” in Blackpool, Manchester UK.
Since moving to NYC, he has been very busy performing at festivals, cruises, and concerts across the US. His solo piano recordings include “In the Dark”, on Blue Swing Recordings, “Piano on My Mind” on the Jazz Connaisseur label and on the Arbor Records label, “Heart and Soul” plus “People Will Say We’re In Love” with vocals and bass by Nicki Parrott.
