2015 Jazz Education Program

NCJF already has plans for the 2015 Jazz Ed Program in place!   Our 9th annual  concert/workshop at Roland Grise Middle School will be given Friday (Feb. 6, 2015)by our Thursday night AllStars.  Later in the afternoon (4 – 6 pm) there will be six Master Class workshops in the rooms so generously provided by the Wilmington Hilton Riverside.  These are open to  music students from the local schools and private teachers.  Registration forms are on this website and will be available from music teachers.  These will be honored on a first received basis as the classes will be limited to 20 students each.  They will include instruction on horns ( Vincent Gardner), reed/woodwind instruments (Adrian Cunningham), guitar (Nate Najar), trumpet (Bria Skonberg), percussion (Chuck Redd) and violin (Jonathan Russell)  Students attending these classes will be given the opportunity to attend the Friday evening performance of the North Carolina Jazz Festival, thus giving the students an opportunity to see and hear jazz performed by our professional musicians.

In 2015 we will also be adding a band workshop at D.C. Virgo Preparatory School.  More information to come on those plans.

We are pleased to announce that past jazz education programs have been so well received by our patrons that they have already started our jazz education fund for 2015 with the following having made donations:

Victor & Elaine Chap, John & Mary Whitt, Michael Nunnally ,  Laura & Jonathan Crane, as well as proceeds from our 50/50 Raffle

We thank them for their generosity in helping us promote jazz at this level!  Contributions to this fund are welcomed, and because the NCJF is a non-profit organization, any contributions to this fund or to the NCJF in general, are TAX DEDUCTABLE.   Contributors names will be added to our website list, as well as noted in our 2015 program. If you would like to join this generous group, please send your checks (made out to NCJF with a notation Jazz Ed. Fund) to NCJF, P.O. Box 7682, Wilmington, NC 28406.
