Harry Allen

Harry Allen, tenor saxophonist, was born in Washington, DC, received his B.A. degree in 1988 from Rutgers University , and now resides in New York. Three of his more than 30 recordings have won Gold Disc Awards from Japan’s Swing Journal magazine. His CD, Tenors Anyone? won both the magazine’s Gold Disc and New Star Awards. The Harry Allen – Joe Cohn Quartet won the New York Nightlife Award for Outstanding Jazz Combo Performance of 2006. Harry performs at jazz festivals and clubs worldwide, frequently touring the U.S., Europe and Asia. Additionally Harry is featured on many of John Pizzarelli’s recordings, including the soundtrack of the movie The Out of Towners, starring Steve Martin and Goldile Hawn. We are really pleased to have Harry here to lend his “Stan Getz – like” interpretations of the Brazilian music brought to us by Adnet & daFonseca, with whom he often plays. This will be his eighth appearance on the NCJF stage.
