Stephanie Nakasian

STEPHANIE NAKASIAN first came to international attention in the mid-80’s when she sang and toured with the vocal jazz master Jon Hendricks and Company. Since then, she has toured and recorded as a leader and with her partner and internationally acclaimed jazz pianist Hod O’Brien. She has appeared as a featured performer at many concerts with greats such as Urbie Green, Pat Methany, and Bobby McFerrin. She has appeared on television and radio in the U.S., Europe, Japan and the Caribbean. National Public Radio featured her on a one-hour concert on “Jazz Set” hosted by Branford Marsalis. She has appeared at many festivals such as the North Sea Jazz Festival (Holland), the Kook Jazz Festival (NYC), and NJ Jazz Festival and our own NC Jazz Festival. Stephanie also headlined with her daughter Veronica Swift at the Women in Jazz Festival at Lincoln Center in NYC. She has recorded numerous CDs, (her latest is Show Me the Way)and has written two books (It’s Not on the Page and You Already Know How to Sing).
