Marion Felder

pic3MARION FELDER, graduate of Julliard and veteran of The Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, comes to us from New York City.  Born in South Carolina, but raised in Detroit, Felder began playing drums at the age of 3.  He attended the Cass Technical High School in Detroit, which has produced many jazz greats over the years.  While in high school, he began playing with the legendary trumpeter Marcus Belgrave.  Upon graduation, he was accepted to the Julliard School for Jazz Studies.

Currently a member of the Count Basie Orchestra and the Sydney Bechet Society, he has toured with Michael Buble most recently, and either toured and/or recorded with the likes of Marcus Belgrave, Wycliffe Gordon, Wynton Marsalis, Christian McBride, Grady Tate, Sara Gazarek, Hank Jones, Bobby Watson, Paul Simon, Nile Rodgers, Carla Cooke, Regina Carter, Martha Reeves, Tom Harrell, Donald Brown, Hank Jones and Ernestine Anderson.

This is Marion’s first year with the NC Jazz Festival.  At this time Mr. Felder does not have a web site.
