Bria Skonberg

Described by the Wall Street Journal as one of the “most versatile and imposing musicians of her generation”, Bria Skongerg, singer, trumpeter and songwriter is taking the jazz world by storm. Originally from the small town of Chilliwack, British Columbia, Bria studied Jazz and Performance at Capilano University in Vancouver, earning her degree while balancing a full road schedule with two bands, and she hasn’t stopped. Bria has played all over the world on stages and at festivals as prestigious as the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Monterey Jazz Festival, Newport Jazz Festival, Montreal Jazz Festival, the 2010 Winter Olympic games in Vancouver and Madison Square Garden.

A winner of numerous awards, Bria is also a passionate educator, giving workshops and concerts for students of all ages. A faculty member of the Sacramento Traditional Jazz Camp since 2008, she performs outreach for Jazz at Lincoln Center and is the co-founder of the New York Hot Jazz Camp for Adults. Bria was recently named Resident Artist at the Louis Armstrong House Museum.
This will be her seventh appearance on our stage and we are so pleased to have her back for the 39th Annual North Carolina Jazz Festival!
